More About Me

One look into Getti’s sweet eyes and we dare you to deny him the loving forever home he so deserves!

Getti came to SNORT after a change in his living situation but we know it won’t take him long to find the perfect forever family. He is a typical pug whose favorite thing in the world is to be with his humans. He loves to cuddle and is friendly to everyone he meets – humans, dogs, cats, doesn’t matter! He gets along well the resident dogs in his foster home, including a bullmastiff and two Frenchies. He doesn’t even mind when one of the Frenchies with limited vision bumps into him; he’s a very patient guy!

He’s also super smart. Getti is crate trained and will sit on command – he’s food motivated (just wait until you hear him “talk” when food is involved!), which certainly helps. He’s essentially housebroken but will occasionally mark so he wears a belly band. Getti loves gnawing on his nylabones and antlers; sharing his food and toys isn’t really his favorite thing, though, so he is fed separately from his foster siblings. For this reason, his forever home should not have children of toddler age or younger. He’s set in his ways and doesn’t like anything coming between him and his food!

In addition to following his humans around, Getti loves exploring the outdoors, so he would absolutely love a fenced-in yard. He has a luxating patella and while he’s mobile, he prefers to keep his walks short, so a fenced-in yard would be ideal.

Getti has limited vision in his left eye but that has zero impact on his quality of life. He arrived at SNORT with a double ear infection and due to his small ear canals, his ears should be monitored regularly. And like many short-nosed dogs, his skin can get itchy from time to time. He was given medicated baths for his first month in foster care and his skin has greatly improved but this, too, will require regular monitoring.

Of course, Getti would love having someone home all day but if that’s not possible, a mid-day check-in or regular dog sitter would be just fine by him!

Like most pugs, you can’t help but laugh and smile at his sweet face and typical pug antics and we can’t wait to find him a forever family.

Getti is 11 years old and weighs in at 15 lbs.  He is currently being fostered near Richmond, Va.
