“So let’s get the obvious out of the way. Yes I am an adorable young French Bulldog. Yes I have the fashion sense of Coco Chanel meets Lily Pulitzer. Yes I am very… and I mean VERY photogenic. Kisses.” – Wicket
Now, it’s important to read her entire profile to see if you are her ideal forever family (she refers to them as staff). Wicket is a happy, playful (very playful and bossy) girl who will need the companionship of another young and playful dog or two, of her size, BUT they need to be able to let her be the boss. She doesn’t like being told no or told they don’t want to play. A dog that will challenge her is not her furry soulmate. She loves people and would do great with what she calls - a blended family - a family with humans and dogs. She hasn’t been around cats in her foster home, so not sure how she would do with them.
Wicket loves company. You know the kind. That one being that always has to be near another being. You see, she suffers from separation anxiety - so if she is left alone without a human (who needs to go to work to afford all the toys she wants), she will need a furry sibling to stay with her. Now - she would also do fine going to work – if you take her with you wherever you go, or, if you leave her with her furry sibling – even if you go to just get some coffee. She will bark and whine if left alone. She loves you – can you blame her? She also does not like the crate. She is housebroken and does fine left loose.
Her sleeping arrangements are simple. Your bed is her bed. Capeesh? (That was Wicket confirming.)
Wicket will need someone who can help her with her environmental allergies. Currently she has been getting a Cytopoint shot (which she will need monthly) and Benadryl. She will need frequent baths to rinse off allergens as well as paws wiped with medicated pads. It appears to be seasonal and will hopefully improve over the winter. (She would appreciate an embroidered bathrobe). Wicket also has a grade 2-3 luxating patella in her back left leg and had trouble eating from a bowl on the floor so she now has and will need an elevated bowl for her meals as well as a daily joint supplement.
She doesn’t mind walks but sometimes barks and pulls towards another dog daring to go for a walk on or near her sidewalk. She is the star - you know. It is actually more important that she has a fenced in yard and preferably one she can’t see through to alleviate anxiety of seeing other dogs and barking or whining. Out of sight, out of mind. Because of this she would not do well in an apartment. Children are ok as long as they are gentle with her (dog savvy kids).
So let’s recap: a house with a privacy fenced in yard. A submissive furry sibling. Your bed is her bed. Allergies need to be managed. Food elevated. Lots of toys. Lots of bones. Lots of toys. (Wicket wanted that mentioned a few times).
Are you the forever staff she dreams about?
