Pretty as a peach and as sweet as honey. Lucia the pug loves her world these days and is looking to stay on the sunny side of life. Things weren't always so rosy for this little 10 year old. This cutie entered S.N.O.R.T. after a good Samaritan found her abandoned in a crate in a parking lot. Fortunately, those gloomy days are gone and Miss Lucia eagerly awaits having a human parent of her own and a place to call home sweet forever home. She currently resides with her foster mama and fellow canines in Warwick, R.I.
Lucia is totally blind and aptly named after the Patron Saint of the Blind. She is described as incredibly adaptive but she will need to be carried up and down the steps due to her condition. At just 19 pounds, she is manageable to lift, and seeks comfort in her person's arms. Pet gates at the staircase are in place at her foster home for her safety.
The ideal environment for Lucia would include a laid back person/couple or family with children over 5 years of age, and submissive pets. She thrives in a calm household with a schedule and showers her people with pug love and affection. She gets along very well with all the dogs in her foster home, but will sometimes bump into them due to her condition. Lucia is untested with cats. Lucia's temperament is very easy going and gentle. Favorite activities include hanging out with her people, mealtime, chewing her bone while resting at your feet, getting treats, and more mealtime. True to the pug nature, food is ever important and truly exciting.
This proper lady is totally housetrained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. She does not produce tears and requires daily eye medication that averages $75 per month. She does not require any other medication. Lucia enjoys short walks and although she would adore human company all day long, she can go approximately 5 hours in between potty breaks.
