More About Me

Meet your new coworker! Baxter is a very handsome sweet boy who needs a forever family that knows he deserves the very best life has to offer. He appreciates people.

Baxter wants nothing more than to be with you and you should want to be with him. Since the workday can be long, he would prefer to either be with you most days at work or hang with you on that conference call from home. He's smart and never barks but sometimes makes other sweet little noises. He also doesn't mind wearing clothing when it's colder. He is a patient guy.

Now that Baxter is feeling better and recovering from surgery for a ruptured neck vertebrae, he LOVES going for walks and exploring. This will be a must in his forever home. He isn’t a just hang out in the backyard kind of guy. He wants to explore – maybe a stroll on the beach or maybe for weekend getaway leaf peeping - but no matter what with you always.

Baxter would prefer to be an only dog to have your undivided attention, or if there is another dog, an older more submissive dog. Calm is his mantra. He is sweet, quiet and a great companion.

Ideally Baxter’s new family has IVDD, neck and back issue experience. His condition is NOT degenerative, but he will require someone who knows how to avoid situations where he could injure his neck again. If in an apartment building, he needs an elevator. If in a house, ideally he wouldn’t go up and down flights by himself. This is all preventative maintenance so Baxter can enjoy all that life has to offer now that he is back to his fun loving self.

Baxter is an overall very healthy housebroken boy and takes a supplement with his meals. He also needs to know if you are a good cook. None of “just” this kibble nonsense. His foster family currently gives him ground-cooked meat on top of the kibble to entice him. He is a picky Frenchie boy. (Well he is French, after all).

Baxter LOVES balls, loves various bones and certain plush toys. He really likes to be included in day-to-day activities. On top of his walks, he loves car rides. (Please note: it’s better if the human drives). He loves a big comfy dog bed and also would love to snuggle on the couch with you if you pick him up and let him sit by your side.

His foster family says, “We would love a home where he was part of the action and got to go to work with his person so ideally if the person worked from home or took their dog to work that would be great. He would not do well in a boarding situation or doggy day care so plan b for travel should be figured out beforehand.”

His ideal forever family could be a single person, older couple or perhaps a family with older (IVDD experienced) kids. No small children for his own safety.
