More About Me

Max is a “man” who knows what he wants, and number 1 on his list is YOU! English bulldogs are known for keen attachment to their peeps, but Max doubles and even triples his devotion. If you are “there,” you can bet he’ll right “there” with you. He gives true meaning to the term Velcro dog.

Max is also loaded with personality and will keep you constantly entertained. He’s an actor, mischief maker, busy bee, nervous Nellie, anxious Andy, outgoing, friendly, dominant, active, and VERY energetic. This sweet, goofy and surprisingly athletic English bulldog loves long, and we mean, LONG walks with his people. Right now he walks a total of 3-4 miles a day, broken up into two small, and one long walk every day. Ever his people’s guardian, he just loves sniffing around and checking everything out.

One thing is certain – Max needs to be busy, which means you will be busy. He constantly wants to play and have you pet him. This sweet and supremely loving boy can only stand being alone and/or in his crate for 2 to 3 hours – at most. Otherwise, he will regale everyone within hearing distance with the most pathetic howling you’ve ever heard. Toys are not his real thing, but in a pinch he’ll play with bones, rubber toys, and squeaky toys.

We prefer that Max be an only dog because of his need for attention. One other dog may work, but not our real preference, and that dog should best be another English bulldog who can match Max in strength, and dare we say, stubbornness. Whenever he meets a new dog, it should be done slowly and carefully.

Because of his people devotion, he needs someone who will be home with him most of the day as well as someone who can give him the exercise he needs. Max needs to be “the baby” of the family.

Max’s foster mom tells what the most important things you need to know about him:

“He wants to be with you at ALL times. This person can’t be someone who travels all over for work and if they travel, they need to have an excellent game plan for who will be watching or staying with him. If this person has an active lifestyle where a dog can’t participate, this is not the dog for them. He howls when left alone and is so sad and lonely when someone leaves. “
