More About Me

Please meet the Original Tankster.  The OT.  Tank, as he likes to be called, aggravated his spinal malformations in a fall and needed more medical care than his previous owner could provide. This is where SNORT stepped in to help this hunk of love.

Tank is the perfect potato. He’s silly and goofy. He’s always happy. He LOVES people. He needs someone to really love him and to have a lot of patience when he moves slower than turtle speed. He’s never in a rush. You might take him outside to pee and he’ll just stand there, in the same spot, for a good 10 minutes, just taking in the sights... and then he’ll pee.

Tank has 6 spinal malformations between t10-t12. There isn’t anything to do about it...he just walks a little funny and very slowly. He’s going to need supplements and on/off pain meds for the rest of his life. He has some Arthritis in his front legs/shoulders from compensating. Tank needs to keep his weight down to put less stress on his joints. He needs limited and low impact exercise = example – he is good to mosey around the yard or walk from bed to bed to couch or even to amble down the driveway to get the mail.  He’ll need regular checkups to track his condition and might need to continue to see a neurologist if it worsens. Currently Tank takes Hemp oil and mobility supplements and then pain meds, as needed, if he “over does it”.

Commands – oh -  well - he knows – ummmm– let’s just say he sticks right by your side so you don’t have to call him. He a lumpy shadow of sweetness.

When it comes to being housebroken -  when on a schedule and you “make” him go, he is completely housebroken. If you just “leave it up to him” - he has accidents. Zero accidents for foster mom. Lots of accidents when foster dad is in charge. Wink wink.

Tank is a hugger. He LOVES hugs. He falls asleep in his foster moms arms on the couch, snoring in her ear, so she has to turn the tv up louder because he doesn’t want to be removed from her lap. When he meets new dogs or people, he tries to keep up and usually ends up sore that night. He just wants to be part of the group. He is an oversized Velcro lap dog.  He would do best in a home without children under 5 since his spine is sensitive. If a kid were to jump/fall on his back, it could cause further injury or permanent damage. Tank loves other dogs and gets happy and does the humpy dance, but doesn’t usually get up the courage to actually hump - only when he first meets dogs or everyone is excitedly playing. He’d be best with relaxed, mellow dogs that don’t play too much, because his activity should be limited as to not over exert and hurt himself.

For play time, Tank has a rubber pig that he’ll bring you if he’s feeling “wild.” He also LOVES car rides. But, he can’t jump in and out of the car, so you need to lift the uncoordinated 70lbs sack of potatoes in and block him from trying to leap out. (He isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer but with a heart like his – who needs Einstein anyway?) He loves being in the convertible, natch.

Tank has 2 requirements. 1) limited to no stairs – a one level home would be great if he could choose. He does the stairs “ok”  - aka,  super slow right now, but as he gets older, he probably won’t be able to do stairs and 2) someone who lets him (aka as help him up and hope your back doesn’t go out) on the couch. Because you aren’t stopping him anyway.

Tank really needs low key people that are strong enough to handle a 70lbs dog with mobility issues. He’d like a chill, relaxed life. He’s not athletic - he’s not going to hike. He’s the relax on the deck with a beer type. Or binge Netflix type. He also doesn’t need someone home all day but would love it if you were. Who else is going to binge watch all 8 seasons of any show with him?

So in summary: Tank just wants hugs. And to be with you. And to sit on your lap. And to snuggle. And to be fed treats. And more attention. (Catch our drift?) He is so so so sweet. He’s simply made to sit with you all day ... and share your meals. Are you the perfect match for the OT? If so, apply through S.N.O.R.T, today!
