More About Me

Precious little Tristan was surrendered to rescue at just 2 days old, and he arrived with so many problems it was doubtful if he’d even make it. But make it, he did, and thrive, he is!

It was a cleft palate that brought Tristan to SNORT, but once he arrived and began his complex medical journey, it was discovered that the surgery for his palate would be complicated. In addition, this little trooper was also found to have diabetes, for which he is on daily insulin. Unfortunately, the diabetes is taking a toll on his vision, and he is now almost totally blind.

A little trouble with eyesight that has stabilized.  You’ll be hard-pressed to think this amazing nugget has any vision impairment the way he runs and plays with toys and his canine friends. In fact, he can find his way into mischief when he’s in his busy bee mode. Otherwise, he is all about chomping away on antlers, playing with toys, romping with his canine buddies, and cozying up with his humans.

Tristan is outgoing and friendly with all living creatures, but he can get possessive over certain treasures and will growl when he doesn’t want to give them up. However, a firm “leave it” command accompanied by a treat, and he will instantly drop whatever prize he was guarding, plunge to a sit, and munch happily away on his treat. A positive approach is what works with Tristan, but because of his tendency to be possessive, he needs a home without children.

Frenchies are known to be strong-willed, and Tristan is no exception. This otherwise sweet, active, and loving boy needs a home with a strong leader who can prevent his inner French bulldog take over. On the other hand, we think because he was taken away from his mother so early, he has taken to suckling on his foster mom’s arm with great earnestness, a wonderfully endearing and strong bonding activity.

Because of the need to keep his diabetes under control, Tristan needs to be on a strict feeding and medication schedule. There is no compromising a 12-hour interval between every feeding and injection. Therefore, his owner must be able to stick to this schedule without fail. He is crate trained, but be aware that because of his diabetes, he has a tendency to drink and pee more than normal, which means more frequent potty breaks.

With a strong leader, Tristan will thrive in just about any home with adults only. He would also love some canine siblings to play with, as he has quite a few in his foster home. Most environments will also work well, including suburban, city, rural, apartment, townhouse, single family house, and very important: a fenced in back yard for him to wander in.

It’s always true that a pup’s foster mom says it best about her charge. And about Tristan, she says:

Tristan has special needs, but that does not define him. In his one year on earth he has been through so much. He had surgery to close his pallet, to shorten his soft pallet, and his nose widened. He was neutered at the same time. He was on crate rest for 3 weeks and was tube fed. He is going blind. But nothing, really nothing, id slowing him down to be the best boy. He makes us laugh, demands love, loves to please. He deserves the best home.
