More About Me

Featuring: one smart, energetic, affectionate, and impressionable young Boston Terrier. Enter Beckett, stage left!

Beckett is indeed on the high scale of typical Boston Terrier energy and as such, he needs a home where there is solid routine with dog savvy humans. He adores his people but is none too fond of cats – the reason he was surrendered to us by his owners. Kids? Great. He currently lives with a 7- and 10-year old and they all do great together. In fact, playing with kids helps him burn off some of his exuberant energy.

Beckett was an only dog in his previous home, and now he lives with several who are teaching him how to socialize. This process is progressing, but he does best with dogs who are playful and who he can’t bully.

Besides non-stop energy, this boy is also loaded with personality. He loves to perform for his people, and is a master mischief-maker. Beckett needs to be busy with a capital B or he’ll find other ways to keep himself engaged. He loves all people, is highly intelligent and needs serious daily exercise. His foster Mom takes him on two 45-minute walks a day. He has also been on 4-mile hikes up and down rocky terrains with barely a pant at the end of the trek. He loves his leash-walks, but beware of his high prey drive which results in pulling and lunging towards any animal he encounters on the walk.

He is generally in good health except for non-specific allergies, for which his foster Mom gives him a Zyrtec with every meal. As a result, his previous skin issues are clearing up.

Party? Did someone say party? Never fear because Beckett will be the life of any party – real or otherwise – that comes his way. Whatever you do, he wants to do, too. Left unattended, he will get himself into mischief such as chewing your favorite shoe. Otherwise, he just loves, loves, loves being with his humans, including a warm snuggle in bed with them at the end of the day.

Beckett needs a positive outlet for his energy and with the right people, he will grow into a wonderful dog. His new owners need to be patient, compassionate and dog-savvy people who will teach him right from wrong and put him on the path to success. With all these things in place, he’ll become an amazing dog!

Given the above, he would thrive in just about any home and environment except for an apartment where his loud bark may cause some issues.

Our foster Moms always have the wisest words to impart about their beloved foster dogs, and about Beckett:

“Beckett will make a wonderful companion for any person, people, or family! He needs some effort in the beginning to help him be the best dog possible, but it will all be worth it down the line. Even though he’s a big boy, he is still very much a puppy, especially mentally/behaviorally, and that is where someone can be of great benefit to him!”
