Picture it: you’re lounging on the couch, maybe reading a book, maybe watching something on Netflix, and soft snowflakes are floating outside the window. The fireplace is on, and your new old girl, Shelby, has found herself a cozy corner on the couch next to you. Her needs are simple being the old girl that she is – some yummy food, peanut butter Kongs, and you!
This sweet, easy and loving girl had a rough go of it recently when her original family went through a divorce and the mom, with five kids, couldn’t deal with taking care of her anymore. But Shelby has adjusted well in her foster home, and she will with you, too, as long as she has you and your couch, good food, and peanut butter Kongs.
Shelby is “housetrained,” but since she is a senior dog, she has the occasional accident. Doggy diapers or pee pads can easily solve this problem.
Since she is partially deaf, she needs a home without small children There are cats in her foster home, and she will chase and bark at them, but there have not been any negative experiences. She currently resides with her lifelong dog buddy, Bob, as well as several dogs in the foster home, and she is fine with them all. Since she’s older, she would do best with another older, calmer dog buddy.
The only real issue Shelby has is that when she is startled, she can get snappy, something which may be because of her deafness.
Since she is so laid back, Shelby will do well in most homes and in most environments. However, the ideal home would be with a family that is home a lot and loves senior dogs and understands their challenges.
