It’s fall, the air is crisp, the leaves are brilliant, and you’re ready for that seasonal favorite – a hike in the woods. And guess who is ready to be right there with you?
Apollo is a fantastically energetic boy who thrives on exercising with his human, and with his sometimes edgy personality, exercise is just the ticket as a calming influence. Apollo was turned over to rescue because his owner said he did not have enough time for him. Like any pup, Apollo needed TLC and help with his excitability as well as a human who would play with him and make him feel special.
Apollo is a healthy boy and has no special needs nor medication. He does have a lump on his neck that was diagnosed to just be a fatty tumor. He loves his toys, especially heavy-duty chew toys, squeaky toys, and oh for a game of fetch!! In fact, he loves fetch so much that once you get him started, he’ll throw the toys up himself so he can catch them.
Apollo needs a mostly quiet home without a lot of people coming and going and where he can be the only dog. He gets very anxious around new people and in unfamiliar situations, during which he can be difficult to redirect. However, once he gets to know you, he becomes your bosom buddy. He also gets pretty worked up around other dogs.
A home without young children is also a must because Apollo does play-bite. Also, if you get near his face and make a quick move, he can snap or nip in a non-aggressive way. A city home would not work for him with all its hustle and bustle, but either a home in the suburbs or country would be perfect. Â And a home with active adults, perhaps with teenagers, would be ideal.
As always, foster Moms say it all best:
Apollo loves his people. He is slow to warm up to new people, but once he does, he loves to be near them and especially loves being pet. He loves being pet so much that he’ll drag your hand to his chest if you stop petting him. Apollo is 100% housebroken and lets you know when he wants to go outside. While he prefers to be with people, he does okay by himself. Apollo is physically fit and would make a great outdoors companion for an active adult.
