As Gus eagerly looks forward to his 3rd Christmas, he finds himself muddling over a puzzle. How on earth did he end up on Santa's naughty list this year?
Just before Thanksgiving, Gus helped himself to some corn on the cob in his family home which caused a life-threatening obstruction, requiring emergency surgery. Through a speedy group effort Gus was surrendered, operated on the same date, and his emergency surgery was a success! Gus is now medically cleared and available for adoption! This 60-pound bouncing 3-year-old is being fostered near Boston.
Ever inquisitive and somewhat mischievous, Gus will require close supervision in his forever home, and some brush up work on manners. This big boy is a bit of a bulldozer who has the ability to become a star student with proper tutelage, Gus is properly motivated to excel in his manner's studies so that Santa will remove him from the naughty list. He already has mastered "sit" and "paw" and is currently working diligently on "stay" and "leave it".
Described by his foster mom as a fast learner, extremely cute, and super lovable, Gus is fast to charm you, but due to his unbridled energy, he is recommended to live with adults only, or a household with children over 5 years of age. He currently lives with a teenager in the home and does well. He does not require a fenced yard and is a good boy about using his crate. Gus does well in almost any environment, city, suburban, home, or apartment. He is low to the ground so steep or uncarpeted stairs are a challenge. Minimal climbing suits him perfectly.
Gus currently lives with an 8-year-old English Bulldog mix and they get along well. He would be thrilled to have a more active play friend in his forever home but can adapt quickly to a less energetic canine. Although there are no cats in Gus's foster home, he did hang out temporarily with 2 cats during his transition into the rescue and enjoyed their company. He thoroughly enjoys playing with stuffed toys and balls, and roughhousing. He sometimes jumps at his human friends with an open mouth to get a toy or say hello, which can alarm an unsuspecting guest.
This youngster is in overall good health, with some typical bulldog skin allergies. In the past he tested positive and was treated for Lyme Disease. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. Gus is 90% house trained but will sometimes have a dribble in his crate bedding overnight.
Gus wants very much to be removed from the naughty list. He is eager learn proper manners but will need a dedicated human to show him the ropes. He is the type of dog who needs a person to monitor him, love him, teach him and accept that he's a bit of a bull in a china shop. Are you the Christmas miracle that Gus is dreaming of? If so, submit your application for this handsome muscle man.
