Thank you for choosing to adopt and not shop. Often times perfect little boys like Baxter find themselves in rescue due to unfortunate circumstances in their family, as was the case for this gem of a boy. Baxter is 8 going on 3 and a half. He's very spry for his age and is the ideal companion dog since his number one focus is to be with his humans. This 24-pound Frenchie/Pug mix currently lives with his foster family near Harrisburg, PA, but he is ready to find his permanent person/family.
Described as lovable and loyal by his foster mom, Baxter wants to be with you as much as possible. Baxter's previous owner passed away, leaving Baxter confused and thrust into a world of change. He was well cared for in his prior life, and desperately wants a human to become his best friend and a home to call his own. The fastest way to win his heart is with daily belly rubs.
Baxter's ideal match would be someone who is retired/semi-retired, or a work-from-home person or couple. He would do well either as an only dog, or with one other canine sibling. He tends to get overwhelmed when in a large pack. Baxter is crate trained but is non-destructive in the house, so he has not needed to be crated at all. He would thrive in a single-family home, or a rural setting. He can sometimes bark when left alone, so close neighbors or a lot of outside stimulation may not be the ideal fit for him.
This outgoing, brindle boy is the perfect combination of active, yet leisure as he enjoys a daily walk, playing with his benebone but also relaxing on the sofa or snuggling in the bed at night. He's car riding skills are impeccable and he's a huge fan of playing ball either inside the house or out in the yard. Baxter does not require a fenced yard. He's best suited to live with children over 5 years of age, or adults only since his is 24 pounds and spry.
Baxter completed a wellness exam and is in good health. He does not take any medication. He's neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. If you believe in the adage, "Dogs are Man's Best Friend" then Baxter would like you to fill out an adoption application so that maybe you can become his next (and forever) BFF.
