More About Me

My name is Cooper (you may call me Coop) and my sister from another mister is Claire.  We are a bonded pair of pugs in search of our forever home. We are living in N.J. near Philadelphia with our foster family but very much want to settle down into a permanent family again. You see, we had a loving home until our human left this world suddenly. We found ourselves topsy turvy in a shelter and that's when the people at S.N.O.R.T. rescue offered us a place to stay until we get on our feet again.

Claire and I have discussed this and have decided it's time to put down roots again. We are 3 (me) and 5 (Claire) years old, friendly and eager to start anew. We do not require a fenced yard, (although we'd love one if you happen to have it) and we get along with all 4 of the other dogs in our foster home as well as the 13-year-old person who lives there too. As you can tell, we are very adaptable. We simply want to stay together, so if you are interested in adopting 2 pugs, and have the time to devote to us, please read on.

I am a 3-year-old tan boy who has let myself get somewhat (or a lot) overweight. As a 2022 goal I have accepted the bikini body weight loss challenge and even though I prefer to be a pug loaf and just snuggle on the sofa, I've been working hard at getting on my feet (AKA standing up) and taking a brisk walk outdoors on a daily basis instead of being a noodle all day. Foster mum also has me on a low-calorie kibble mixed with green beans and chicken. It's actually quite yummy and I eat every bit. Who knew heart healthy could taste good too!  I'm very accepting of my diet, and I just know that I'll be in a speedo body by summer when I hit the beach. I'm already down to 26 pounds and have to shop for a new bathing suit this year.

I also think when I reach my attained weight goal, my knees will feel better. I have a condition called luxating patella in both legs, but I am not in need of any surgical measures. I just take a supplement. Full disclosure, I'm told I'm a sloppy eater and therefore have to take meals in the mud room.  As for the potty training, I will sometimes mark, so please put on your patient cap and help me accomplish yet another goal to be the best pug I can be. I'm willing to wear a belly band while learning the ropes at a new place. Both Claire and I have made great strides in the potty training, but we are pugs and can be sneaky with potty, so an adopter needs to keep a watchful eye on us and even supervise us outside to continue the positive reinforcement.

As for my personality, I'm usually a go with the flow type of dog, but I do have a protective side. I love to snuggle and give kisses to my person. I also get along with all 4 of the dogs in my foster home, no matter what their size. I LOVE to be around people ....in fact...I want a person around most of the time. You'll understand if I feel a need to keep an eye on you. I never want to go back to a shelter arrangement again. No cages for Claire and me please. If I am snuggling with my BFF human on the sofa or in bed, I take exception if another person wants to join us. Honestly, I get myself riled up and vocalize so you understand how serious of an infraction this is to me. I overheard my foster people discussing loss of privileges and something called 'tough love' which made my tail go completely straight. I take my responsibility seriously as boy pug of the house and protector of the fort. Once I've deemed the new person safe, or they give me a treat, it's all tail wags on my end, but in this area, I definitely need continued work to avoid stress for all involved.

Miss Claire is a perfect little dream boat. She is only 21 pounds and has maintained a trim figure at 5 years old. She is ALWAYS eager to take a walk and she rides well in the car too. Claire has the most adorable pug head tilt when people talk to her. Her nickname is Peanut which I think is because she has an hourglass shape. I'm going to keep working on my beach body so that I can look as good as Claire. Even with her stunning good looks, It is Claire's personality that wins everyone over. She is inquisitive, active and friendly. She likes to be in the midst of the household activities. Like me, she loves to give kisses and she isn't even sloppy at mealtime. Miss Claire is a dainty princess. She has only been sneaky with potty in foster care a couple of times...at least that I noticed, but the people here are like the potty police. Claire doesn't even need to take any medicine. You can see how perfect she is and why I insist that we be adopted together.

Sometimes Claire checks in on the 13-year-old human in our foster home and hangs out in her room. I think they discuss girl things. Claire really likes all sizes of people, but due to my possessiveness, I am best suited to live with teens or older who can understand our pug language and have the desire to continue my work in the possessiveness category. Our foster home is in quiet surroundings, and we adjusted well here. We are aware of outside noises and will bark if there is a bustle of activity, so a rural or suburban environment is better for us than a city or high traffic area.

Summer is around the corner. I have substantial goals but could use a trainer.  Can you help me attain a svelte beach body by summer as well as helping me become less possessive? Claire and I have bounced a lot lately & only want to move one more time in our life. Please take my feelings into account instead of just looking at Claire's beautiful eyes.  If we sound like your pug dream boats, complete an application for us today!
