Callie the French Bulldog could easily be nicknamed 'dreamboat Annie' because she is nearly perfect for someone looking for a senior dog. Callie is being fostered near Boston, MA and is officially available for adoption.
This resilient lass is starting over at 10 years old - but don't let her age fool you. She is a spry senior with no underlying medical conditions and loves to be near her human companion most of the time. Sadly, her prior owner entered hospice which is why Callie is starting anew. You can see why she may want to keep an eye on you most of the day, so if you work from home, or are semi-retired and looking for a sidekick, please read on.
This dreamboat will tell you that she is house trained, and very efficient at doing her business quickly, then returning inside. She doesn't complain about being in a crate, and she is playful - enjoying bones and antlers most of all. She also enjoys stuffed toys but is known to destroy them quicker than her foster mom can buy them. She can occasionally be seen throwing a toy in the air and catching it. After playtime, this Frenchie thoroughly enjoys couch time with her BFF person, and prefers to lay next to you, touching you, rather than on your lap. Callie's on the large side for a Frenchie, at 30 pounds, so it's a probably a bonus that she doesn't demand a lap. This semi-active gal is very amenable to leash walks, taking commands (she knows sit, come, crate, stay/wait, and shake) and she is not vocal 90% of the time. She will let you know she is hungry or wants attention.  Callie also enjoys bath time and is proud to say she does not possess the stubborn bulldog streak that some others of her breed are known for. Dreamboat Callie charms most people she meets and is especially fond of teenagers and adults. She is not ideally suited to live with children under 5.
Callie previously lived as an only dog and is also the only dog in her foster home, so we do now know how she would do with other resident dogs, other than she took exception to a female boxer in the past. She is not dog aggressive on leash walks but would ideally be suited as an only pet where she can get all the human attention herself. She has a high prey drive toward small animals, in particular, birds and has lunged at the household bird in her foster home. For this reason, and this reason only, Callie's foster mom is not applying to adopt Callie herself. Even dreamboats have a drawback or two.
Most of all, Callie would like to live out her life relaxing and being doted upon. She's looking for someone who can provide moderate exercise/canine stimulation, lots of bones and antlers as well as treating her like family. As she ages, she may require some assistance getting on and off the sofa, so ideally, someone who can lift 30 pounds may be of benefit going forward.
Are you the answer to Callie's dreams? If so, submit a S.N.O.R.T. adoption application.
