For just being 3, little Abbey has had an awful lot of change in her life and wants nothing more than to settle into a home of her own, especially if it has someone who will play ball with her! In fact, if she could, she would spend all her days and all her nights playing ball.
Abbey’s pet-parents were killed in a car accident, and she was adopted into a home where there was another dog. This did not work, so here she is, looking for another place to lay her sweet paws. Needless to say, a home with other dogs is not an option for her.
Abbey showcases the personalities of both breeds, including the high-activity levels of the Frenchie and the somewhat strong-willed attitude of the Bully. Like both, she is as friendly as can be, sometimes too smart for her own good, easy to train, and satisfied with one walk a day.
When Abbey gets going, she can get overstimulated leading to some mouthiness, which is easily corrected. Toys are her treasures, with the proverbial ball, especially if it makes noise, her absolute favorite. Kongs with peanut butter, lick mats, and stuffy toys are right up there on her list, too. Car rides? She’s in! A great way to get her to calm down when she has gotten over-excited.
Abbey has tested positive for Lyme disease, but she is asymptomatic, and all function tests were normal. She will need flea and tick prevention year-round. She is also sensitive to chicken and needs a high-protein, red-meat based food to maintain normal stools. Otherwise, she is healthy and full of life.
The ideal home for Abbey is an adult-only one where she can love her humans unconditionally and they love her. It also needs to be a home with adults who have dog experience. Add to this is a home that is somewhat structured and routine oriented. A home with kids and cats is not an option as she is reactive to them both.
Even though she adjusts well to new environments, she does so as long as she has her crate and blankets, which make her feel cozy and safe. When she arrives in her new home, Abbey will need time to decompress, which is where these will be her special comfort.
Here’s what her foster mom has to say about Abbey:
“Abbey has had a lot of change in the past year, but she remains happy and just wants to please her people. She is a precious, sweet little soul who just wants to love her people.” If you are her people, please fill out an application today.
