SNORT has its own version of a Diaper Dandy (that reference is for our college hoops
fans out there!) in Barney Rubble and our volunteers are getting ready to batten down
the hatches because we know we are going to be flooded with applications as we seek
out his perfect forever home!
Barney is just about as perfect as they come. Friendly? Check. Good with cats and
other dogs? Check and check. Kids? He loves them! Smart? He’s only nine months old
and already knows how to sit, shake, and wait for his food!
He is so perfect it’s easy to overlook the fact that he has spina bifida. While he will have
to wear diapers for the remainder of his life, it’s such a small part of his personality. You
will be too busy watching him play, explore the outdoors, and sunbathe to really notice
that he’s different from other dogs. And his care is really quite simple – regular diaper
changes and he’s good to go! Toss a diaper bag in your car and you will have the best
travel buddy you could ask for. He even enjoys taking short walks but is also perfectly
content to spend time exploring his yard. He loves to relax in the sun or occupy his time
with some chew toys.
He loves everyone he meets and would be happy in almost any kind of home. His ideal
home would not have a ton of steps, but other than that, he’s super easy to please. A
doggie companion would be great but not necessary. He’d even love a roommate of the
feline variety or even some human siblings to play with. And outside of his spina bifida,
he has absolutely no health concerns!
Because he does need regular diaper changes, he cannot be left alone during the day;
if his family works outside of the home, he will definitely need a mid-day check in. Or,
better yet, make him your unofficial coworker! He’d be an asset to any work environment.
He’ll even join you on your coffee break – he loves himself a pup cup!
Don’t let a little thing like diaper changes scare you away. Diaper changes quickly
become no big deal and he’s worth it 10 times over. He simply loves everyone and
everything and he’s going to be so excited to be welcomed and loved by his new forever
family, so get your application in ASAP!
