Meet Beans, a 6-year-old Pug fostered in Pennsylvania, who is equal parts sweet, smart, and deeply affectionate. At a perfectly portable 17 pounds, Beans is a classic people-loving pug who truly thrives on being close to her humans. Her previous owner worked long hours, and Beans has made it very clear that her happy place is in a home where she isn’t alone for long stretches and can soak up companionship, cuddles, and lap time.
Beans is an easygoing, laid-back girl with a friendly, outgoing personality. She enjoys daily walks, adores stuffed toys, and is more than content being a couch potato once her exercise needs are met. She is housebroken, crate trained, knows how to sit, and is generally easy to live with. Beans does well with kids ages 10 and up, is cat-friendly. She would do best in a home with male dogs if there is a canine companion.
Like many sensitive souls, Beans needed a little time to adjust to change and took about a week to settle into foster life. She can show some anxiety, particularly overnight or in unfamiliar situations, but does best when she can stay close to her person. She’s also much more comfortable riding in the car when she’s secured in a car seat next to you, as crates can make her nervous during travel. With patience and reassurance, she continues to gain confidence, and her most recent vet visit went wonderfully thanks to a gentle, fear-free approach.
Beans would be happiest in a quiet, loving home with people who enjoy being around their dog as much as she enjoys being around them. A fenced yard is required, and a single-family home in a suburban or rural setting would suit her well. She’d be a great match for retirees, homebodies, or anyone who can offer a calm environment and plenty of companionship. Beans doesn’t need someone home all day, but she’d do fine with an owner who can come home at lunch or arrange a dog walker.
