Meet Blueberry. Also known as The Bloobs. Also known as the softest, sweetest little velcro potato to ever emerge from the Frenchie factory.
Blueberry is a former mill mama who has officially retired from the puppy-production business and is now concentrating on the really important things in life: couches, walks, snacks, naps, toys, kisses, and keeping tabs on her humans at all times.
Her previous family said the other dog in the home was attacking her, but Blueberry has been wonderful with people and other dogs in foster care. She is gentle, affectionate, and loves to play. She is also still learning how to “dog,” which is understandable considering she apparently spent a significant portion of her life being a puppy-producing machine instead of getting to just be somebody’s spoiled dog.
And spoiled she shall be.
Blueberry is a certified velcro dog. Wherever her humans are, that is where Blueberry would like to be. Couch? She’s there. Kitchen? She’s coming. Bathroom? Obviously you need supervision. She loves being near her people, getting pets, giving kisses, and generally making sure nobody forgets that they have a dog.
She walks nicely on a leash and is an absolute angel in the car. She loves chewing Benebones and playing with — or, more accurately, annoying — her foster brothers. She is also perfectly happy to spend the afternoon snoozing beside her humans.
She sleeps with her tongue hanging out, which is ridiculously adorable. Upon waking, we like to ask if she has any “tongue crusties.” This is apparently now a thing we do.
Blueberry is also the proud owner of the softest Frenchie fur we’ve ever encountered. We’re not saying she’s part dog, part cashmere sweater, but we’re also not ruling it out.
She is about 90% pad trained and 60–70% housebroken, so her forever family will need to continue working with her. Occasionally Blueberry will pee and then apparently decide that the living-room carpet deserves a turn too. She is improving and will need patience and consistency while she finishes learning the rules of indoor plumbing.
She has lived with cats and likes them. She enjoys other dogs and would likely do very well with a canine companion who can continue teaching her the mysterious ways of being a regular dog.
Blueberry does not require a fenced yard and can happily live in a city, suburbs, apartment, townhouse, or single-family home. She’s generally quiet, although the occasional completely inexplicable noise may cause her to investigate or bark. Apparently the ticking timer in a 60 Minutes commercial is highly suspicious.
Stairs are still a work in progress, and she will need some help and supervision because her current strategy seems to involve occasionally attempting to skip multiple steps at once. This is not recommended.
Blueberry can absolutely live with someone who works. She currently does well with a dog sitter who comes by when her foster mom is at the office.
What Blueberry really needs is someone who understands that she is learning what life is supposed to be like. After spending her earlier years having litter after litter of puppies, she is finally getting to discover that being a dog can mean sleeping on the couch, going for walks, playing with friends, getting spoiled rotten, and having humans who are there simply because they love you.
She is gentle. She is sweet. She is affectionate. She is ridiculously soft. She is easy to please.
Mostly, she just wants to be loved, included in your daily life, and allowed to be The Bloobs.
And after everything she’s been through, we think she’s earned that retirement.
