While SNORT’s Coco Chanel may have a diva name, she certainly doesn’t act like one! Chanel is a sweet, adorable, easy-to-please senior lady in search of the perfect retirement home.

Chanel, who is 10 years old and weighs 14.5 lbs, is like most pugs; a loving and happy little gal who loves being around her people. She has gotten along well with the other dogs in her foster home in addition to the two and five-year-old children who frequently visit.
One important thing to note is that Chanel’s vision is super limited. She has no vision in her left eye and limited vision in her right. She sometimes doesn’t realize she is in the path of oncoming traffic so for that reason, super young children may not be ideal. If her forever home has dogs, they also need to be understanding because she may bump into them on occasion! She’d likely be fine with cats since her vision limits her from noticing them.
Chanel is one smart cookie, though, and quickly learns to navigate her surroundings. Obviously, it helps if furniture and other objects remain unmoved once she learns her way around a new environment. She also needs to remain on a leash when outside – and this girl loves being outside! Chanel enjoys several short walks around the yard each day, especially on nice, cool days. Oh, and she wears size 2T t-shirts for the days she need to layer up outside (hint, hint – like her namesake, fashion is important)!

In addition to her limited vision, Chanel has a few other health issues to keep in mind. She suffered a stroke and also has a moderate form of dementia, which occasionally manifests itself in circling. She is on an aspirin regimen to thin her blood due to the stroke. Chanel also has kidney disease and a liver condition, both of which require medication and a specific diet to keep her glucose levels stable. She is fed three times a day and takes special supplements. It may sound like a lot, but she is very used to her routine and it’s imperative she remain on this regimen. Finally, she gets an eye lubricant three times a day.
Chanel lived in a garage for an unknown length of time so her potty training is a work in progress. She is almost completely pee pad trained, though; if she doesn’t make it to the pad she’s almost always very close to the location of the pee pad so keeping the pee pads in the same spot is important. She will go outside if she is allowed to stick to her schedule but simply can’t hold it for an extended period of time. Thus, her ideal forever home has someone who can be home more often than not. Of course, with a face as cute as hers, why would you ever want to leave her in the first place? Oh, and while an apartment would be ok, she definitely needs a yard!

There isn’t an aggressive bone in this girl’s body – she has no food aggression and no resource guarding; in fact, she really isn’t all that interested in toys at all. She much prefers to curl up on one of her (multiple) doggie beds and take a snooze.
Chanel may need some very specific care and attention, but this girl is absolutely worth it. She’s a sweet senior who deserves to live out her golden years in the lap of luxury. She is currently being fostered outside of Rochester, N.Y. Be sure to fill out an adoption application!
