Charlie has IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) which has left him paralyzed in the back end. As a result, he gets around in a wheelchair and must have 1 floor living, or a person who is able to carry him up and down stairs. In spite of being a wheelie dog, this cheerful young man loves his toys, and will tote around his most prized stuffies. He enjoys the company of EVERYONE - dogs, cats, and most of all - people. He shows his enthusiasm by giving huge kisses to his humans. Due to his wheelchair, he is not recommended to live with children under the age of 5.
Charlie was surrendered due to his owners expecting another child and realizing they may no longer have the time needed to devote to him. Charlie requires some extra care due to his condition. He needs to be expressed to go potty and needs lifted when not in his wheelchair. Since his temperament is so easy going, Charlie adapts to just about any wheelchair accessible environment - city, rural, home or apartment - all are A-ok to this open-minded mister. He also understands if you need to leave the house to go to work, or have some human only time. Charlie does fine when left home alone, as long as it's not excessive.
Described as loving, happy and calm by his foster mom, Charlie has only 1 Christmas wish this year....he wants a forever person who will love him just the way he is.
