We tried, but we couldn’t find a more perfect, stereotypical (in the best possible ways!) Frenchie puppy than Gus!
Obviously he is devastatingly handsome, but he’s so much more than a pretty face, so keep reading to learn all about him.
At just seven months old, Gus is very much still in his “puppy era.” He is neutered. He has a bit more growing left and lots of learning to do! We might be biased, but he’s pretty much a genius so we can’t wait to find out how much more he can learn. He has already
mastered “sit,” “stay,” and “here,” and is close to mastering “leave it, “off,” and “down.”
See? A veritable genius!
Well, there’s one caveat on the genius part. He’s still a work in progress with house training, but he is so young and so smart that we know he’ll get there soon. This is likely the first time in his life he’s been given any attempt at a consistent routine so there’s always a learning curve in these instances.
It seems likely that he had a less than pleasant start to his young life as he sometimes shies away from human touch and is scared of small, dark spaces and rooms. But it has been unbelievably rewarding to see him start to slowly trust his foster family and blossom in his foster home. He’ll need his forever family to continue proving to Gus that he can trust them and that yes, life really can be this good! Gus pays minimal attention to other dogs but seems to enjoy their company. He does have a bit of a prey drive for smaller animals, though, so a cat-free home is required. Gus has also done fabulously with children of all and ages and sizes; he’s very gentle and patient, so he’d be a great addition to a family with children. Like any normal puppy, boredom = chewing, so his forever home will need to make sure he enjoys plenty of dog-appropriate activities and chew toys. But despite being an active puppy, Gus has quickly caught on to the wonderful world of daytime naps and will often fall asleep anywhere! Gus has a recurring cherry eye in his left eye that may need some extra attention at some point.
He also has a little bit of a sensitive tummy so he must be on a healthy food and supplement regime; plus, his itchy skin has seen improvement with his current diet and regular baths.
Because Gus is still learning the ropes of house training and needs to burn off his puppy energy, he needs a family with someone who can provide frequent potty breaks during the day. It is fully expected that once he is fully house trained and a bit calmer that he would make a great addition at your office or place of work and/or be able to spend longer periods of time alone at home.
Puppies are a lot of work and Gus is no different, but he’s such a smart pup who has his whole life ahead of him to enjoy what he didn’t get to for the first few months of his life. Get your application in now so Gus can start his next chapter!
