More About Me

Harbin the French Bulldog speaks with her eyes. In fact, Harbin will have a whole conversation with you by using body language. This shy gal was named after the rescue (Saving Harbin Dogs) that partnered with S.N.O.R.T. to save her life and get her out of Harbin, China and into a foster home in the U.S.A. She is estimated to be 4 years old, weighs 24 pounds and resides in Lancaster County, PA.

This young miss enjoys time spent with people and being cuddled as her number one priority. She will greet humans with a wag of her stumpy tail, a bow and then a submissive roll over to get her belly petted.  Living in a home is strange and new, so Harbin is looking for a patient and dedicated owner who will show her the ropes. She's about 50% potty trained and making progress each day.  She has run of the house 24/7 in foster care and is also starting to get the concept of using the potty pads during the overnight hours.

In addition to being with her humans, other favorite activities include getting shoulder and neck rubs, sometimes falling asleep and snoring during the massage; going for short leash walks, keeping perfect stride with her human; playing with (and sometimes destuffing) fuzzy squeaky toys, and of course...taste testing snacks in the kitchen! Described as very laid back for her age, she will have short bursts of bouncy play energy, but can generally be found just hanging out in her dog bed, sunning herself on the deck, or snoozing on the sofa. She rides exceptionally well in the car and would welcome going anywhere with her people, even accompanying you to work if you have a cozy spot for her to hang out.

Harbin entered rescue with ear and skin infections which are being treated with medicated baths, antibiotics and and allergy injection. She is just finishing up with her 2nd round of antibiotics. She also has a healed corneal ulcer in her right eye which gives the eye a slight discoloring in bright light. Harbin has small nostrils and makes some snorty Frenchie noises. As she ages, she may be a candidate for nares and palate surgery. She has grade 1/2 luxating patella's. She tolerates baths, nail trims, ear cleanings like a pro. In fact the only time Harbin ever fusses is when she is separated from others in the house. She is not a fan of the crate.

During playtime, this non-acrobat will race full speed to greet her play friend and has knocked over the 13 year old pug in her foster home while attempting to play. For this reason, an ideal home would have older children or able bodied adults only. She generally likes other dogs, but lacks dog manners, and will need boundary work if adopted to a home with other resident pets. Since she will get right up in the face of other animals, she may be best suited to pets who don't mind their space invaded, or as an only dog. Since she enjoys leash walks, a fenced yard is not required. Harbin does like the outdoors, so if you have a deck or patio that could be secured she would welcome the opportunity to hang outdoors with you on nice days, or to sun herself after a bath.
