Are you ready for an eye soaker of a story? Would you believe this amazing, loving, cuddle-bunny of a dog has lived in 8 homes in his 5 short years of life? By number 6 he was in a crate for 18 hours a day. Then, horribly malnourished and underweight, he was dropped off at a horse rescue where the foster mom brought him back. Despite being so horrendously mistreated, Humphrey is a true dream dog.
This boy truly loves everyone and everything. Kids? He is with 13-, 11-, and 4-year-olds, 8- and 9-month-olds and is in his glory. Chickens, horses, and other dogs? Bring them on! Adult humanoids? If he could crawl into your pocket to be with you all the time? Suffice it to say, that’s where he would happily be. He loves and needs his people and because of his earlier mistreatment, he suffers from separation anxiety when he is alone. He therefore needs a home with someone who works from home or is home most of the day. He is not destructive, just barks.
Loaded with personality, there are tons of words that can describe this special boy. Try couch potato, loafer, outgoing, friendly, easy to train, submissive and laid back. He wants to be with you … always, and that means touching and being able to always see you. He loves walks and is always up for a car ride.
He is potty-trained but isn’t into crates. Humphrey knows a bunch of commands, including come, sit, down, give paw, and roll over, and he is indeed most anxious to please you in executing them.
He is basically a healthy pup, but now he is suffering from double ear infections, for which he is on antibiotics. He also has Lyme disease; once he is finished with the antibiotics for his ears, he’ll be treated for the Lyme disease with another antibiotic.
If you haven’t had experience with short-nosed dogs, you may not be familiar with how they drink. With Humphrey, it’s called very, very messy. If you don’t wipe his mouth off right away, he will make a mess all over the place.
The ideal home for Humphrey would be with a family that has kids and owners who have experience with short-noses dogs. Also, a single-family home in the suburbs. He needs a family that will include him in most of their activities and give him the attention he desperately needs.
He is so loved in his foster home, and this is what his foster mom has to say about him: Humphrey needs someone who understands a short faced dog. He is the biggest love bug and best snuggle buddy you will ever meet. He loves to be with his person and go on car rides, walks well on a leash, loves other dogs, chickens, horses, and children. He has seen enough heartache and deserves a loving home with people who will cherish him forever.
If he is your ideal match, please apply for him today.
