Please meet Keira, a 2 year, 29 lb French Bulldog who was also a part of the China rescue mission. Keira loves having people in her life. Although she was a bit shy when she first arrived and took a while to warm up to her foster mom, she is a friendly, intelligent dog that just needs to feel secure. Can you blame her? She spent so much time not having a home. She was slowly introduced to the foster dogs (who are much older) in her home and is a bit of a bowling ball when meeting them by knocking them over. (Her age and inexperience shows.) Now, she is perfectly content sleeping together and hanging out with the foster dogs. She has had limited exposure to the cat in residence and did not seem interested.
As her foster mom puts it “Keira is not one to exercise. She has a backyard that she will explore and then lays down in the shade.” That’s the extent of her athletic endeavors. She does enjoy treats and will be known to push to get in front of the foster dogs to get it. She is smart and with training can learn how to be the best dog. Keira stays in the living room when foster mom goes out and is not crated. She is almost housebroken and is working at it every day.
She was treated for Seborrhea on her ears and for Giardia. She is now healing up and is getting better every day. She is also now eating kibble and is enjoying not having tummy issues.
Although Keira is not super sporty, she is very intelligent and if she is not engaged she can be naughty. She has destroyed two dog beds and rugs. She is very curious and therefore someone who can engage her to keep her mind focused on positive activities would be perfect. She also would love a good lap to sit on whether on the couch or in bed.
Her ideal home would be someone who makes her a complete part of the family. She would do well with adults and older children as well as a single person.
