My body might look small and fragile, but my personality is HUGE! Hi, I’m Khloe with a K. I am just a puppy, 6 months old, 13lbs, and while I look like I’m part meerkat, DNA confirms I am all French Bulldog. I am told my temperament is very French Bulldog too!
I came to S.N.O.R.T. because my elbows were fractured, and I did not receive the medical attention I needed in a timely manner, so I was surrendered for better care. I was immediately seen by two specialist and a physical therapist once in the rescue. In a best-case scenario, surgery could have been done to correct my injuries, but in my case, my injuries were too old to be surgically mended. As a result, I have a wonky walk and deformed front legs. Since surgery was off the table for me, I resorted to physical therapy - hydrotherapy in the pool, to build muscle and help my legs work better. I love the pool and am faithful with my exercise regimen. My foster mom also takes time to do some stretches to keep my range of motion. I do have carpal braces to help support my legs when it’s time to play hard.
I'm young and able to do what any other puppy can do (minus going down big stairs) .... even getting into occasional mischief like spilling my water bowl on purpose. And if you think you can catch up with me in the yard, think again!
Since my legs are different, I will need a secure, fenced grassy yard in my forever home. Walking on concrete is not ideal on my bones. I also take supplements to help me stay comfortable. As I get older, my bones could get worse, and I could eventually need assistance to get around. I'd love a forever home with a pool or some sort of water therapy option for my legs to continue to work as well as they can. Just make sure to put my swim vest on me - always safety first.
My foster mom describes me as outgoing and fearless. I love to run and play. I am small but mighty. At just 6 months old I need stimulation and exercise, but it can't be in the form of long walks due to my legs/elbows. Playing with other dogs is my favorite thing in the world, but I am young, strong willed and need human structure. Remember, I am fearless, and I will not back down!
Please have at least one other dog if you apply for me, the more the merrier. I play with a 100lb Labrador Retriever and another French Bulldog in my foster home, so the size of dog doesn't matter to me. They just need to be able to wrestle like we are in the WWF.  I kind of really love the cats in my foster home, especially the old one. He teaches me the ways of a cat, but I can be a little rough. So, cats would be fine although I will be a little much for shy felines. I love everyone, but remember, I have fragile bones, so small children are not the ideal fit for me.  Children over 10 years old would be best. Even foster mom says she can barely hang onto me.
My perfect home would consist of active, social people and I'd love it if you have a pool and a fenced grassy yard for me to safely exercise. In spite of my deformity, I am active and fast in the grass.  I absolutely love the water, swimming on my own, the hose, the shower, the water bowl…. I love it! It would be amazing if my new family has a canine physical therapist locally or has experience with dogs who have leg deformities or mobility issues.  All the resources that I will need as I get older. I hope you could make my wildest French Bulldog dreams come true.
I truly am a piece of work if I must say so! I am comical, busy and a true puppy. If there is something to get into, I will find it and never forget about it. My family must be on their toes and up for the challenge. I promise I am worth it! If you think you fit the bill, please fill out an application for me.   -K
