After being in the same home for 4 years where he got lots of love and attention, Mac’s whole world turned upside down when he found himself in a new home with new people through no real fault of his own. The issue was this: his previous owners had a new baby and Mac was not quite pleased. He didn’t hurt the baby, but he did pee on it, so the owners were concerned that whatever was triggering Mac could escalate.
Probably a result of the many changes he’s undergone, Mac is extremely nervous and anxious, especially around new people. He is also wary of the husband in his foster family. He does, however, LOVE both his foster mother and even more so, the son. In fact, one of Mac’s favorite things is to cuddle up on the son’s bed and sleep with him.
Mac is a healthy boy and has no special needs or medications. By nature he is submissive and active, and actually laid back once he’s feeling calm and secure. He can also display crazy, silly, fun Boston Terrier behaviors. Mac loves to walk and run and has had great fun running with the son who is on the track team at school. If you have cats, Mac may be the dog for you. In his current situation there are 2 cats and he has been fine with them – this from a dog who was never around cats before. He is also crate and potty trained and adores chomping a way on a bone.
A family atmosphere with older kids or a single person are situations where Mac would thrive. He would do well in most any type environment including suburban, rural, apartment, townhouse and single family home. Because of his anxiety, a home in the city would not be the place for him.
Here’s what his foster Mom has to say about Mac:
“Mac is such a great dog. I can’t say how very laid back he is for a dog that only knew two people his whole life and who had to give him up. He is such a snuggle bunny and a love. He has never chased my cats; he gets curious but has never tried to chase or hurt them at ALL!!. He can be goofy and quirky and get zombies a little bit when he’s comfortable and happy.”
