If you are wondering how this adorable young man ended up in rescue, Milo the 2-year-old Frenchie would love to share his diary with you, in hopes of finding his ideal match. He is currently residing with his foster mom near Boston, MA and is officially available for adoption.
When it comes to personality, Milo has it in spades. He LOVES people above everything else and will fall asleep on your chest or lap to show his affection and seek comfort. We are not certain if he sees himself as a dog or a child, but rather 30 pounds of cuddle with big ears and a bit of a snore.
Milo initially came to S.N.O.R.T. as a result of severe GI issues which his owners were not able to diagnose or solve. His belly was so unsettled that it took months to resolve, yet little Milo soldiered on, facing all the trials and tribulations with optimism.
Milo has been diagnosed with Granulomatous Colitis while in foster care. Through extensive treatments including fecal transplants, oral and injectable meds, strict diet and a lot of patience from his caregivers and doctors, Milo is now in remission. With his symptoms at bay this little man is thriving as the happy active 2-year-old that he was born to be. He currently is kept on prescription food and given Metamucil twice daily. His Granulomatous Colitis is in remission, but he will require careful management to prevent and (possibly) treat flare ups. His adopter should become familiar with this condition in French Bulldogs. His adopter will also need to be VERY CAREFUL that he does not consume any other food other than his prescription diet. The ONLY exception is his specific brand of peanut butter.
This youngster's favorite activities are chewing on Nylabones or Benebones, playing fetch and of course snuggling with his humans. He is friendly to all people but may be a bit too much energy for children under 5 years old. His ideal home would involve people around the home most of the time and a fenced yard for him to romp. He has some mild separation anxiety for which he takes medication and is most comfortable with at least one person in the home most of the time.  Milo has shown some pushy behaviors toward other dogs and will be most happy as the only pet. He is possessive of his food bowl and his favorite person's lap. He does OK on leash walks but will occasionally bark/lunge at certain dogs he comes across. With slow introductions, he has warmed up to and enjoys visits from the large breed dog in his extended family while in foster care. He is untested with cats.
Any environment, including city, suburbs, home, condo would work for Milo as long as he has a fenced yard and people around to give him attention. Since he is a bulldog, he can be a tad bit on the stubborn side and will sometimes sit on the curb if he doesn't feel like following the rules of the leash walk. Less crowded spaces suit him best. He would be over the moon to find an active human to share adventures with, but also a savvy dietician to aid in keeping him on track with his daily meal choices.
