If you want the best of all worlds, you’ll get that with Nacho. He loves, loves, loves being with his peeps, but when they’re not around, he’s perfectly content to curl up in his self-claimed bed and go to sleep. His bed is his “safe zone” and when in doubt, that’s his hideout. However, he will surprise with sudden bursts of energy that propel him to chasing his beloved ball.
When it comes to other animals, Nacho is not a fan. He has gotten feisty and aggressive with other dogs and is not known to be enamored of younger children. In short – he needs to be the only pet in his new, adult only home.
But as the only pet, he will delight with his performances and antics. He brings an array of wonderful personality traits including a true loafing, laid-back couch potato; an outgoing and friendly greeter to adult visitors; and considerable intelligence which makes him easy to train. Not being terribly athletic, Nacho is perfectly happy with a single walk each day.
The intelligent fellow that he is, Nacho responds to a number of commands, including sit, down, stay, wee wee, bed and mat. When you say bed or mat, he goes right to his bed or crate and lays down. Although he is content with his bed as his safe place, he is also fine with being crated.
One thing you need to be careful of is having him jump up on furniture. This is due to a previous back injury. He was cleared by the vet at the time, but this is something that should be watched, and if he is to get on the furniture, he should be lifted.
What Nacho does suffer from now are skin allergies. He is on a raw diet and needs medicated baths that will have to be continued when he is adopted. He also will need a dental cleaning when settled into his new home.
Currently Nacho lives with his foster family in the country where he is thriving. He would love another country environment, but he would do well in a suburban area as well. A city may provide too much stimulation as well as close contact to other pets on the streets.
His ideal home would also be adult only and one without a lot of steps.
Nacho has endeared himself in his foster home, and this is what his foster Mom has to say about him:
He is an amazing dog. He is very “go with the flow,” loving and an all-around ball of fun. He is laid back, just wants to be with his people and deserves a loving home that will keep up with his medicated baths and keep his skin under control and make him one of the family.
