More About Me

If you’re looking for an amazingly bright light in your life, Newman is your boy! A roly-poly, love-bug, Newman, who's four years old and weighs 22 lbs, brings joy and laughter to everyone he meets.
People – he can’t get enough of them. Newman loves all peeps and “encourages” their full attention. Being so focused on his people, he listens extremely well. He loves to play and run around, has a few favorite toys to gnaw on, but he’s also happy to snuggle up with you on the couch and watch a movie.
Because he becomes so attached to his people, he at times shows aggression when other dogs advance to seek his people’s attention. We would prefer he be an only dog, or live in a home with just one other, submissive dog.
He has not been around children, but given his love for attention, it’s possible he could become jealous of them. However, a home with older children would work.
Newman has had palate surgery to help with his short-nose breathing syndrome, but he still pants when tired, in hot weather or after exercising excessively. A home with people who are short-nosed savvy is a must. Right now he is on a wet food diet because of his palate issue, but he should be okay with a slow switch to dry food. The wet food does make him urinate more frequently.
Since Newman is so people focused, he’s not real keen on being alone for long periods. He would be a fabulous office mate, either in or out of the home. He doesn’t particularly like stairs so a ranch home would be preferable.
Newman is a fantastic little guy. His foster Mom sums it up best:
“Newman is an amazing, sweet dog! He loves people, food, toys and just life! He will make you laugh with his snorts, the way he runs, and just his meatball size body. Whoever the lucky one is that gets picked to adopt him will be truly blessed with him in their life.
