If you’re looking for the perfect package in dog form, you have found it with Odette! Odette encompasses the best of every dog trait – a couch potato but also a busy bee. A cuddler but also up for a daily walk. Outgoing but also loves some solitary time with her chew toys.
Estimated to be between six and seven years-old, Odette will fit into just about any family. She was surrendered after being retired from breeding and while it took a little while for her to adjust as life as a pet, let’s just say she isn’t looking back now! She is currently being fostered with a 16 pound fellow Frenchie and a 33-pound French Bulldog and gets along very well with both. Odette would love a laidback doggie companion in her new home but one that is preferably on the smaller size; she’s a bit unsure about bigger dogs! She’d also do just fine in a home that has a dog-savvy cat.
She is on the larger size for a Frenchie – but has the perfect physique; no diet needed here! – so she should be supervised around smaller children but she adores babies, toddlers, and children. There is not a mean bone in her body. And the good qualities keep on coming! Odette is crate trained but does not need to be crated. She does need a bit of time in a new environment to learn her routine and that includes where to potty, but she is a very quick learner and once she figures out the lay of the land, she is perfectly fine to be left uncrated. Of course she’d also be a great work companion but if that’s not possible, Odette is a-okay with a mid-day check-in and potty break. Odette came to SNORT with an eye injury but it has been addressed during her time with her foster family.
She will need a six-month recheck with a veterinary ophthalmologist but other that, she is a healthy lady. So what are some of Odette’s favorite things? Give her ALL the chew toys! Antlers, nylabones, squeaky stuffies, you name it! She’s also up for a game of tug of war with her doggie pals or a short walk (or cuddle session; some days you just aren’t feeling a workout) with her humans.
The good life is still new to Odette, so her forever family must understand that she will need a few weeks to get used to her new home and new routine. Strong, firm owners will do her a world of good as she adjusts to her new life. Once she’s comfortable? You will never have to ask for a better canine companion! As far as the perfect type of home, Odette is not picky. Apartment, house, city, suburb – she’s fine with them all! She currently enjoys a fenced-in yard in her foster home but it’s not a requirement. If you’re ready to give Odette the life she has always deserved, be sure to fill out an application!
