Penelope

Penelope is back on the adoption page! 🐾

Meet Penelope, your future cuddle companion. If you’ve been dreaming of a gentle, loving dog who just wants to be by your side, she is your girl. Penelope is almost 8 years old, a Frenchton weighing about 17 lbs, and the definition of calm, sweet companion. She is happiest curled up in your lap, tucked under a blanket, or quietly following you from room to room. Her soft, loving personality will make you feel at ease.

Penelope is affectionate, easygoing, and very people-focused. She loves children and will happily cuddle with them. She gets along with other dogs but prefers human company and isn’t particularly playful with other dogs. She enjoys having a calm dog around for company when left home alone, but she would also be perfectly happy as your one and only. Penelope walks well on leash, rides beautifully in the car, knows basic commands like sit and stay, and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. She loves to snuggle in blankets on the couch or in her dog bed and would even enjoy sharing your bed at night. She iwell-behaved at the vet. she rarely barks

Penelope has mild separation anxiety and needs a home where she is not left alone for long periods. She would thrive with an adopter who works from home, is retired, or can bring her along on errands or to the office. A secure, fenced yard (at least 5’ with no gaps) is required because she is a runner when off leash. Otherwise, she is a low-energy dog who enjoys lounging, cuddling, and quiet companionship.

Medical Update: Penelope was diagnosed with hydronephrosis of the right kidney. Her kidney is still functioning, and surgery is not recommended at this time. She may need future kidney care, but she is currently doing very well, with no symptoms other than needing bathroom breaks about every 3 hours during the day. She eats and a fresh diet and it has worked wonders for her and will continue to need this.

Penelope is a true indoor princess. She doesn’t like cold, snow, or rain and will go outside quickly to do her business and come right back in. If it’s snowing or raining, she will often refuse to go outside. For this reason, she would prefer a home in a state without heavy snow. She is happiest in a cozy home with soft beds, warm blankets, and a lap to curl up in.

Penelope is a sweet, loyal little dog who just wants to be loved. She will sit quietly beside you and rest her head on your lap, offering comfort and companionship. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion, Penelope is ready to meet you.
