More About Me

Once upon a time in a land called Connecticut, there lived an adorable Frenchie named Rhubarb. Beloved Rhubarb spent her days frolicking at doggie camp and her evenings cuddling with the grown-ups and life was good. She was born deaf, but her disability never got in the way of having fun and feeling important. Then one day a stranger came to live with Rhubarb's parents, and the stranger was a wee person who cried a lot and took the attention from Rhubarb, which made Rhubarb frown. Rhubarb tried her best to secure her position as top priority, but as time passed, another small human entered the house which put Rhubarb into a tail spin. It was all so unsettling that Rhubarb expressed herself by growling at the wee people, which placed the grown-ups in a difficult situation. Making the best choice for Rhubarb meant rehoming her and so Rhubarb packed her bags and took all of her puzzle toys to live at a new camp called S.N.O.R.T.

There were no wee people in her new camp, so life was once again good for little 9 year old Rhubarb. Rhubarb flourished with adults and no children under 13. She practiced her racing skills in the yard and dreamed of a fenced yard of her very own one day soon. When the mood suited her, Rhubarb donned a new outfit and strolled the neighborhood with the lady to show off the daily fashion. She felt like an athlete and a princess all in one.  She brushed up on her obedience skills and sign language. Commands such as "sit", "lay down", "stay", "paw", "roll over" and "come" have all been mastered. Bright 19 pound Rhubarb communicated so effectively, she would run up the stairs and wait at the door when finished with running laps in the yard. She either pawed or picked up her food bowl to signal the humans when it was mealtime. Tug of war was easy to signal with a bark and a stare. After all of this activity, Rhubarb snoozed soundly each evening in the nighttime crate knowing she was ever important. The days were filled with humans all to herself during quarantine work. No wee people --all was good. Rhubarb smiled.

In the new camp, Rhubarb met another foster dog and 2 resident cats. After careful consideration, she has decided being the only dog where she is lavished will ALL of the human attention would make her fairy tale dreams come true! Rhubarb also went to see the dog-ter. She was given medicine to help with urine leaking, but still does have frequent small accidents. Not to worry, blankets can be washed and most of the leaks are the size of a quarter. Rhubarb also had a low grade mast cell tumor removed and will need any future lump to be checked by the dog-ter.

Rhubarb knows she will have many more seasons of wardrobe changes, playing tug of war and relaxing on the human lap when the day is done.  Described as a 'popcorn jellybean' by her foster mama, Rhubarb is tiny, sweet and a little salty. She has A LOT of personality (which she has no interest in changing) and is extremely lovable. She is well-behaved, but needs the right home where her specific needs will be embraced.

More than anything else, Rhubarb looks forward to unpacking her suitcase and toys and living happily ever after....
