Salami

Salami

Salami’s name and baby blue eyes are just two of his many admirable qualities. This gentle Old English Bulldog is being fostered near Philadelphia and is just 2 years old, weighing 50 pounds.

Handsome Salami was surrendered along with Oreo, due to a family member’s allergies to the dogs. He’s letting us know that he prefers a forever home where he is the only pet, and with children over 2. Ideally this gentleman would love if he had a fenced yard in which to wander, sniff, and simply hang out with his people. His favorite pastime is cuddling with his humans on the couch or on the floor. His foster mom describes him as cuddly, loving and a good listener. He thrives when getting attention from people, and also enjoys an occasional toy or bone to occupy himself. Overall, he’s a pretty laid back boy and cherishes lounging around the house with humans.

When Salami first entered the rescue, he needed to have surgery due to his urinary tract being completely filled with cystine stones. His condition was so severe that it required rerouting of his boy plumbing, so now he pees a little different than the other boys. His new family will need to bring him for twice yearly vet checkups to ensure new stones aren’t forming. He also eats a special diet to help prevent stone formation. In spite of how painful these stones must have been, sweet Salami still just showed only his cuddly and gentle nature. Salami is also neutered and microchipped and up to date with vaccines.

As much as Salami likes the company of people, he’s not a huge fan of other pets and will tug on his leash and bark at other dogs while walking, which is why a fenced yard would be ideal. It is unclear which dogs he likes and dislikes, so in general, avoiding public places with other dogs is preferred. Salami just wants to love and be loved by his human family without competing for attention from another pet.
