Please meet Wedge. A 3-year-old outgoing busy bee love Bugg (Pug/ Boston Terrier mix). Wedge finds himself in rescue by no fault of his own and just a circumstantial family change.
Wedge LOVES people and has never met a stranger. He will want to be around you at all times. He jumps in laps and loves to give kisses. He will always be trying to sit on your lap and burrow into your chest. He has boundless energy and no understanding of physical boundaries - you will become both his launching and landing pad. He will relentlessly love you. He would love a furry playmate dog or two. He even enjoys cats and wish they would play with him. He does know how to give them space if it’s not their thing.
Wedge plays well with well-mannered children. He currently plays with a VERY energetic 5-year-old and a small 13-year-old without any issues. Wedge has a lot of energy and gets excited to play with kids. However, children under five may not find his energy as exciting as he does.
Wedge likes to make small amounts of mischief. He will take empty cat food cans from the kitchen and bring them onto the couch. He likes to try to get the other dog to play with him by nipping at her and jumping around her. He could use some education on his manners and he is quick to please. Wedge has no medical issues.
He needs exercise and/or stimulation because he will chew on furniture, etc. when bored. He should also be supervised with soft toys because he eats the pieces he rips off. He loves nylabones, balls and soft toys. He likes to play with anything he can shake. He likes to play fetch, socialize and wade in baby pools. As mentioned, he is a lap dog and prefers to be on someone even when he is very warm. Wedge’s favorite pass times you ask? Run, run, run, jump, lick face, run, run, run.
His walks aren't particularly long because of his short nose and lots of small energy walks or yard play is best.
Although Wedge is housebroken, he likes to mark when first discovering a new place, so he will need some refresher training. He is crate trained and also knows some commands - come, sit and “sort of” lay down. He would probably learn new tricks quickly because he is eager to please. He easily learns routine things like sitting to get his leash put on or sitting at the door before being let back in or going in the crate at night.
Wedge would do best with anyone who is willing to give him time and attention. He would prefer a house where someone is home more often than not, so he wouldn't be the best dog for someone who is traveling a lot without him. He loves kids and adults. His forever family just needs to be comfortable with the amount of energy he has. We think he would do fine with children 5 and up as long as they are not afraid of dogs because he will be all over them and kissing their faces.
Wedge could live anywhere. He loves people and other dogs, so he can be in a populated area. He barks some, but not excessively, so an apartment would be fine. A fenced yard would also be great since he loves to run but as long as he gets lots of walks, not necessary.
Although Wedge does not need someone home all day, naturally he would prefer it. If left alone, he can become anxious and a little destructive, so his current foster family crates him when they leave for a couple of hours. Wedge should not be left for more than four hours without going outside.
Wedge would not do well in an office environment because of his tendency to mark. He also gets very excited about people and does not lay calmly for long periods of time.
Wedge is a very loving, happy dog who wants to please his owners and everyone he meets. He would be perfect for a family who wants an interactive dog with lots of love to give and willing to work with him for commands and manners. He has endless energy and endless love. He is just a sweet and happy boy who wants someone to give him time and attention for the rest of his life! Are you the perfect match for this bundle of energetic love?
