Wrigley the English Bulldog puppy is certainly not camera shy. In fact, he's not shy about anything he does. This handsome youngster has his toys packed and is officially available for adoption. Although very beloved by his former owners, it was quickly discovered that he was not the best fit in their family. Therefore, Wrigley was surrendered to S.N.O.R.T. in hopes of finding the best possible happily-ever-after life.
Wrigley is all puppy and still learning the ropes. He's a mouthy player and isn't discriminatory with his toys. He enjoys tug, large stuffed toys, fetch, antlers, bones and occasionally gets confused that the person engaging him is also a play thing. For this reason, he is best suited to a home with children over 5 who can continue to work on redirection skills when he makes a slight judgement error. He is 40 pounds at 5 months old.
This fast learner is picking up quickly on the outside potty routine but will need a combination of patience, continued work and frequent potty breaks due to his young age. He is learning to ring the bell or sit by the door as an alert that he has important outside business to attend to. He's already grasped some basic commands including: "sit", "treat", "potty". He would love a fenced yard, although not required. This social butterfly enjoys everyone he meets on his short walks...all people... and both male and female dogs. He has not been exposed to cats or to dogs under 30 pounds, and his enthusiasm and size might be intimidating for smaller pets who coexist in the same household. Admittedly, a bit clumsy, Wrigley will tell you that although a professional baseball field shares his name, he has no desire to become a star athlete.
Going forward, Wrigley will need some continued medical checks. First, he will need his DHPP puppy booster. He is not neutered (so this will need to be done when he turns a year old) but is up to date with other vaccines. Secondly, Wrigley has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia and will need future X-rays and possible surgery as he grows to adulthood. He wants his future adopter to understand the financial cost involved and therefore will need a committed owner who also serves as his medical advocate. He will reward you with lots of smiles at his silly ways and promises to be your trusted cuddle companion.
The best environment for Wrigley would involve minimal stairs, someone home part of the day, and an outdoor area where he can explore and lounge without too many distractions.
This boy wants nothing more than to be with his people as much as possible. After a structured daily routine of play and monitored exercise, Wrigley loves to chill out after 9pm each night. Although crate trained, Wrigley prefers to be by your side as much as possible. He would likely play with his toys while you work, as long as you have flexibility to provide ample supervision/attention through the day, especially during his younger, playful years. He is a good boy at night, sleeping through as long as given a potty break as soon as you rise.
If you are that dog savvy person who is ready for a lifelong commitment, apply for Wrigley the wrinkled faced pup.
