Feel free to call me X. That's short for Xavier! I'm looking for a human companion to become my teacher and activities director. I'm just one and a half years old and came into S.N.O.R.T due to my humans getting divorced. I figured since I'm starting over, I'd make a list of my important things.
#1 on my list - playing in the fenced yard. Please have a fenced yard for me. I'm young and need safe space to work off my energy. We can play fetch with the tennis ball for as long as you want out there because I have a lot of energy. I enjoy the company of other dogs and would love to have an active canine playmate to romp with. I'm also content to chew on my cow hooves, antlers, or Bene bones while you supervise from a distance.
#2 on my list - gazing out the Zen window. If you have a perch for me to sit upon and look outside, I can busy myself quietly for hours. I find the outdoors very amusing and relaxing, whether a busy street, cornfield or parking lot. Feel free to go to work while I'm on my favorite perch in my Zen state.
I'm an easy-going guy and don't have many demands on my important things list, but my foster mom will tell you that I need some work in the manners department. I don't quite understand that jumping on people is not an acceptable way to say hello. As a growing 40-pound English Bulldog boy, the people tend to see it otherwise. Don't worry, I already know the 'sit' command, so I'm sure the rest of the obedience training will be a snap for me. I figure in between fetch and the Zen window I will have time for some studies each day.
When we take walks, I will take the lead...you know, to protect you. I'll pull hard so that all the other dogs and people can see how muscular I am! Due to my strength and lack of manners, I may not be ideal to live with children and I prefer a home without cats.
I also take indoor guard duties very seriously. If there is a piece of paper or cardboard box on the floor, don't fret, I'll chew it up so that no harm can come to you from items that don't belong. Some call this "mischief making" but I prefer to call it "protecting the perimeter" for your safekeeping.
As you can see, I have many assets! In addition to protecting you from cardboard, I am crate trained and house trained. I do not take any medications and I am up to date on my vaccines. I mainly want companionship and someone willing to take time and show me the ropes, even if it means obedience classes at night after you are done working. All I ask is that you are patient with me. I know that I have a lot to learn, but with training treats, I'm sure I'll get the hang of things and will be ready to show off my new skills soon enough. At night, we can cozy up together on the sofa and watch tv. I love being beside people!
If you would like to be my mentor and activities director, apply for me, Xavier, today!
