Big Lou

Please note: ** By applying you acknowledge that we do NOT hold dogs and if chosen as the adopter, you are prepared to adopt and pick up at time of approval.

If you are looking for a big, loveable mush, Big Lou is your man (pup). Healthy as a horse (pup), the only thing Big Lou requires is daily eyedrops for his dry eyes. Other than that, this is a dog who loves action, including daily walks as much as a mile or two in distance!

This big old English Bulldog was originally an unclaimed stray who hung out in a shelter until he was luckily handed off to SNORT and a foster home that loves him. And now he’s looking for his own, permanent home to love him!

Big Lou is one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet, but true to his Bull Dog heritage, he’s also got a stubborn streak, which can actually, at times, be quite endearing. Lou doesn’t always make the best first Impressions when meeting new people as he tends to get overexcited and doesn’t always direct his excitement in the right way but Lou and his foster parents have been working with a trainer on this and Lou has done very well at learning how to appropriately greet new people and how to relax in new environments. He’s a smart boy and learns quickly!

He is active and loves to entertain his humans but is also more than content to hang out with his person on the couch. He does however, need slow introductions with any new family members or dogs. His current foster home worked diligently at slowly introducing him to the family dogs and any friends coming over. This will need to be practiced in his new home. This will be very rewarding.

Since he’s such a big boy, a home with little kids, less than 13, would not be a good idea because when he’s excited, he might jump up and knock them over. How he is with cats is unknown, but a home with dogs would be bliss!

Big Lou has a heart of gold, but his foster family feeds him separately from the other dogs since Lou tends to get overexcited during mealtimes and calmness is key with him! He shares treats, lick mats and toys with his foster siblings very well!

Balls, balls, and more balls – more bliss! Big Lou loves his balls. Give him a ball and he happily chews away, especially if it squeaks! However, obsession plays a slight part here, as Big Lou covets his balls!

Big Lou’s ideal home is one that is active and with either a single owner or a younger couple and one with dogs. A townhouse or single-family home – fenced-in yard required – in a rural or suburban setting. Since he’s such a big boy, apartment life is not a good option.

This is what his foster mom says about Big Lou:

Lou is a big mush. He is the sweetest boy and just wants to be with his human and be loved.
